Nikol wears a silk scarf by DiFiore New York.
This summer, I have seen so many women in New York City sporting spectacular hats and adorning their heads with scarfs, headbands, and my personal favorite, turbans. I must say the head has become my new favorite area of the body to accessorize.
Headwear gives such pizazz to the simplest of outfits. Hats, besides adding allure and mystery, also provide the benefit of sun protection. Scarfs that can be tied in multiple ways are an absolute savior when experiencing lousy hair days due to humidity. My darling mother gave me a beautiful turban-style headband in the spring, and I have worn it regularly. It receives many a compliment.
I was thrilled when beauty entrepreneur Nikol Johnson Sanchez, kindly took the time out of her busy schedule to be photographed for this feature. Her face is simply stunning, and she oozes old school glamour. In addition to the fun day spent with Nikol, I had the pleasure of discovering local women milliners and businesses. Hmm… it looks like I need to start planning a second headwear feature, pronto. Winter beckons us to cover our heads. In the meantime, summer is still here, there is always somewhere warm to travel to and for our southern hemisphere readers… summer is around the corner! – Simone Silverman ♥
