Barbara Fayman has worked in the fashion industry for decades.
Currently, she is on a mission to empower women with hair loss issues due to chemotherapy or conditions such as alopecia. Her new venture is a line of fashionable hats with attached hair that is convenient and boosts confidence. ‘Someone’s Sunday’ is for all women who are seeking effortless style.
I was educated at Mount Scopus College in Melbourne and then went on to do an art course at Melbourne University. I really hated studying and couldn’t wait to get out into the workforce so I took a job over the 3-month Uni break with an Advertising agency. I loved it. I worked in advertising for about 5 years then married, had children and then somehow found myself helping a friend out in his fashion business, and, of course, found my niche.
I started a wholesale business called Blue Velvet and supplied various department stores under store label.
I then went onto work for various clothing companies, putting together their own lines. Fashion is definitely my passion and obviously I can’t seem to stay away from it… because here I am again.

“Empowerment is my key mission.
I recognized a gap in the market
for fashion-forward hair loss solutions
and established the brand as a way to give women
the means to embrace their
journey and control their destiny.”
WHY SOMEONE’S SUNDAY?
My husband and I holiday annually with the same group of friends. On one of these trips my friend, who is a plastic surgeon, made mention of a turban I had made from a scarf. He bemoaned the fact that there was little in the market place in the way of fashionable headwear for women with hair loss. I was adamant that the turban looked great because I did have hair. Once I was home, I had a look at what was available and the seed was planted- why couldn’t I make fabulous headwear with hair attached? It is every woman’s right to feel confident and empowered every single day.
Someone’s Sunday is more than just a hat, it is headwear complete with synthetic hair attached allowing women to mix up their look, adding confidence and style. Our products are created with ethically produced material and every product is specifically designed for comfort, style, and adaptability.
We are still a very young company but I am so excited about Someone’s Sunday.

There are 3 hero styles.
The Panama in Black and Natural,
The Baseball Cap in Black and Khaki,
The Beanie in Charcoal Grey
All are available in four different hair shades: cool blonde, natural blonde, rich auburn, and deep brunette- there is a tone to suit everyone.

WOMEN WHO INSPIRED YOU AS A YOUNG GIRL
My mother. My parents came to Australia from Poland just before the 2nd world war. They met on the ship coming out and forged a new life together. They had limited English but worked hard and created an incredible life for my sister and me. My mother never complained and in fact, when she passed away, the owner of a bakery phoned to offer their condolence. I asked her how she knew my mother… she replied that my mother had been coming in every Friday for years and purchasing challahs and cakes. She would drop them off to people as her Friday gift. But she never mentioned it to us. My mother taught me honesty, respect and the value of hard work.
“Women, who inspire me now?
Olivia Newton-John, Delta Goodrem, Kylie Minogue, and Robin Roberts.
I think all these women have faced cancer and hair loss with strength, humility,
honesty, and dignity.”

YOUR THOUGHTS ON AGING?
My overall view is that age is only a state of mind and yet I have this love/hate relationship with aging. Both my parents passed when they were young. To be honest I didn’t think it was so young then but now that I’m getting to their age I am constantly aware of not having enough time.
The upside- I love the confidence that comes with aging. I love the knowledge I’ve gained along the way and I don’t really care about what others think me. I feel comfortable in my skin.
WOMEN, WHO YOU THINK HAVE AGED WITH GRACE/INTEGRITY?
Sophia Loren and Jane Fonda- women who have aged with purpose, dignity, and strength.
WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES A WOMAN POWERFUL?
Quiet strength, confidence and the ability to go after what they want.
